Terekhol Beach | Maharashtra
Terekhol Beach
Terekhol is the last beach situated between the Maharashtra – Goa stretch. It is situated on the northern bank of the Terekhol river, was built by the Raja of Sawantwadi and used as a base for an armed revolt by the first Goan born Viceroy of Goa, Dr. Bernardo Peres da Silva against the Portuguese forces.
Marked by turrets and surrounded by a ditch, this fort gives you a panoptic view of the ocean. There is also a creek here, which divides Tira and Arambol. Although a small beach, their heritage fort is of primary historical significance, though it has now been converted into a hotel that goes by the name, ‘Neemrana.’
You can take your car onto the ferry and cross over to Arambol pretty easily. The tranquility this place offers is unlike any other, accentuated by the confluence of the serene sea and the river.
